SCHOLARSHIPS
Texas Exes Chapter Scholarships benefit freshmen entering the University of Texas at Austin. These students are selected by our San Diego Chapter Scholarship Committee Members. The Scholarship Committee volunteers also work year-round to raise the funding for their awards.
The Association is deeply grateful to The Texas Exes throughout the world who have contributed their time, talent, and funds to help select and recognize these outstanding students. Recipients are given their scholarship checks at the Chapter Scholarship Awards Event held at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center and recognized here in San Diego at our Annual Salt Lick BBQ Scholarship Fundraiser in August.
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Would you like to be one of our recipients next year? If you are a San Diego area resident and local high school graduate who has been officially admitted to the University of Texas, you are eligible to apply for a scholarship.
When a freshman applies to the University via 'Apply Texas' they are automatically considered for our Chapter Scholarship - no extra application is needed! We can only award scholarships to those who have been officially accepted to and enrolled at the University of Texas, so awards will not be announced until after University admissions are confirmed, usually by June of each year.

Savannah Madden ('21) - Scholarship recipient 2017 (follow on Instagram)
"My name is Savannah Madden. I’m a graduate of McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and received my Bachelor's in Economics with a minor in Business and Spanish. I was a student athlete playing Goalkeeper for the University of Texas Women's Soccer. I'm currently playing professional soccer for the Houston Dash as Goalkeeper. I was named 2021 All-Big 12 Conference Second Team and I'm a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team player.
Receiving a scholarship from the San Diego Texas Exes has greatly impacted my opportunity to do well in school as I was able to get the textbooks I needed for all of my classes. It has allowed me great success and I’m extremely grateful for the reward. Thank you all for choosing me and I hope the next recipient is greatly accepting and deserving of the scholarship as I was. Hook ‘Em!"
